What is Fire Powder?

What is the Fire Powder?
Fire powder is one of the most effective fire extinguishing tools and it is frequently used today.
They are specially produced for use in fires of fuel and gas. It stops the interaction of fuel and gas with oxygen and leads to the end of the fire in fuel stations and natural gas fires. Under favour of dusty components in its structure, it gives much more effective results than many other materials in fire extinguishing.
Fire powder is generally desicant. If we talk about its fire extinguisher properties; we can make reference to choking, radiation isolation, cooling effect and various other reactions. The choking and cooling effect is one of the main effects of fire powder. It allows the fire to extinguish much faster and the loss of life and property is much less.
Fire powders, which can maintain their effectiveness even at extremely high temperatures, create a strong layer between the burning substance and oxygen.
Due to this layer, the burning material starts to extinguish by separating from oxygen. Naturally, because there is no oxygen, the fire extinguishes very easily.

Fire Powder in Firefighters
Fire powder is generally used in fire departments. Due to tanks in fire engine, fire powder is repelled to burning areas with pressure. The tank containing the fire powder is first of all kept at a certain pressure by filled with nitrogen. This pressure is maintained at the same value by preserving when the fire powder is sprayed out. There is a special safety system in the tank to prevent any problems and to keep the pressure at a constant value. Under the favour of this safety system, an obstacle is put in the case of decrease of pressure. Fire powder is used much more effectively.

These powders, which are used to extinguish the fire, contain many substances in their structures. These substances do not react with fire. These powders, which do not react at even very high temperatures, create a strong glassy layer in the fire area by preventing oxygen from reaching the burning zone. Thus, the fire can be extinguished in a short time. It is frequently seen in fire types consisting of fuels such as oil and gas. It is sometimes used in metal fires that are also known as class D fires. It is one of the most effective fire extinguishing materials that can be preferred in fire extinguishing.
